We offer two internship programs for those looking to learn more about hat making and millinery in a working environment. Each internship last 3 months, requires a minimum of 1 day a week, and focuses on the following topics.
This program focuses on blocking hats. You will learn to work with either felt or straw hat bases and how to mold these bases onto wooden hat forms. Stiffening methods will be covered as well as basic hat finishing techniques.
This program focuses on fine millinery techniques used for special occasion headpieces and fascinators. Some of the topics that may be covered include blocking fascinator bases, trimmings, featherwork, wire work, working with crystals. Previous machine or hand sewing experience is preferred.
